By Creating a Remarkable Venture listing, you will be using a proven advertising method called Problem Solution Advertising.  Presenting the problem naturally raises unease within the audience, followed by the solution benefits which provides relief and creates anticipation, encouraging further inquiry into your solution.  Use simple, concise wording throughout to keep the reader’s attention and spark interest.

Problem Description:  Add your description of the problem. 

Tips:

  • Use your preparation research to create a concise and meaningful problem description.
  • Proofread to assure proper grammar and concise wording.
  • Have others review your visual(s), listing title, and problem description.  Watch their reaction and make sure they “get it” right away.  If they finish with a confused look and have lots of questions, you may need to make improvements.

 


Solution Benefits:  Use this section to spell out the benefits that customers would gain by using your solution.  You want to really sell your idea by using rich, descriptive wording.

  • Provide as much fact-based information as possible.
  • Make sure each point is clear and concise.
  • List all of the benefits.
  • Avoid adding anything that might jeopardize your intellectual property.
  • Follow up this section with a call to action!  Ask the reader to complete the Contact form and learn more about your solution.

Goal Statement:  (Optional)

This optional section is blocked to all but community members.

This is a short description of what you hope to gain (both you and the company) from this experience.  Use it as a specific, attainable, and measurable statement that sets the stage for your expectations.  It will help the company understand your intention and give you a chance to show that you want to help them as well.

Example:  To assist a great company in bringing a profitable, high quality and safe pineapple peeler to market within 12 months. 

 


Description:  (Required)

This section is blocked to all but community members.  Use this section to give any details you want but did not want to include in the publicly viewed Problem Description or Solution Benefits.

  • Avoid adding anything that might jeopardize your intellectual property.
  • Be creative.
  • You can give general statements and offer them more details upon solution inquiry.
  • If you already have patent protection in place, feel free to use this section to share your idea.

 


Product Industry Research: (Optional)

This optional section is blocked to all but community members.  Use this section to add any information you have on the product history, consumer trends, etc.

  • Avoid adding anything that might jeopardize your intellectual property.
  • You can give general statements and offer a more detailed report upon inquiry.
  • Describe competitive landscape, demographics and market potential.

           


Market Research: (Optional)

This optional section is blocked to all but community members.

Here you can provide forecasted sales from competition, potential pricing strategy, forecasted profit margins or any related research you may have completed.  

  • Avoid adding anything that might jeopardize your intellectual property.
  • You can give general statements and offer them a more detailed report upon solution Inquiry.
  • Competitor sales volumes:  For Amazon products there are multiple 3rd party trackers such as Jungle Scout that can provide sales volumes and pricing for related products sold on Amazon.com. 
  • Manufacturing cost: If you have contacted multiple manufacturers and have quotes, you can use this information to offer manufacturing and distribution costs, pricing strategies and potential profit margins as they relate to competing products. *If manufacturing or distribution quotes are for high volumes, the cost per unit is often less, which is the cost that that the inquiring company will likely be interested in.
  • Recommended sale price:  Figured by competitor pricing + value added
  • Gross Profit margin  *Figured by taking sales price – manufacturing cost / sales price (Multiply by 100 to get %)

Tips:

  • Research fields can be extremely effective if accurate.  Make sure you understand what you are doing and have good facts to back up your numbers when you speak directly to a company.
  • Be honest!  If you don’t know some information or it is “estimated” data, make that clear.  Be up front with every aspect of your listing and you will begin to build trust.
  • If you don’t have a way to support your statements, don’t include them in your listing.
