Now that you have completed a market search and patent search, you are ready to develop your solution concept into a finished solution.  Remarkable Venture Inventing step 5 (finalize the solution) and 6 (create a prototype) go hand in hand.  You may end up revisiting step 5 multiple times as you refine and improve the prototype.  Remarkable Venture Inventing step 5 will discuss taking everything you have learned to this point, to finalize the solution.

Gather your problem statement, solution concept, market research and patent research along with any notes taken along the way to use in the development of your invention.  It is time to be creative and innovative.  Combine all of your collective knowledge and effort into a final solution.  Here are some tips to consider:

  • Simple designs are often better.  Features can be added by you or your licensing company later.
  • Keep your problem statement and competitor’s established solutions close by to make sure you are solving the problem and improving on other solutions.
  • Test as you go.  This is where step 6 might be involved as well.  Continuously testing by using a digital model or rough prototype can help you develop your solution and allow you to refine as you go.
  • Using household items for development prototyping such as carboard, foam or clay can help you minimize cost during testing.
  • Once you have tested and refined, create a detailed design by drawing or CAD (computer aided design).  Assure that the drawing or CAD model is accurate and complete so that a manufacturer can take this information and produce a completed, professional prototype or finished product.
  • Depending on your strategy many vendors help with CAD models.  Whether doing it yourself or hiring a professional, you can minimize prototype and manufacturing expenses and create value for your listing by making sure that the CAD models or drawings are thorough, complete, and legible.
  • Once you have a detailed drawing or model and you have finalized the solution, you are ready to move on to Remarkable Venture Inventing step 6 – Create a prototype.

Summary

  • Use the knowledge obtained from steps 1 – 5 to finalize the solution
  • Test, refine and develop as you go.
  • Creating a detailed and complete drawing will minimize expense and add value.
