The Z Caster is a true spherical omnidirectional wheel where the sphere is supported by an arrangement of axles rather than by its exterior surface.

The Z Caster rotates in all directions around the true wheel center, maintaining efficiency in any direction or orientation.

The key innovation is a third rotation axis, which enables freedom of movement with surprising effectiveness and stability:

Superior Benefits over Caster Wheels

Unlike conventional caster wheels whose swivel axis must be kept vertical, or omni-wheels whose main axis must be kept horizontal, the Z-Caster can be fixed in any orientation, providing superior design and function flexibility.

• With Z-Caster, a larger-diameter wheel can fit within a given envelope.
• Low-profile design, with connection at the front and/or rear rather than the top.
• Does not require extra empty space for swiveling 360°.

• The two attachment points do not apply bending force to the frame.
• Fixed center point improves stability.
• The spherical design rolls more smoothly and predictably over uneven terrain.
• Same effective rolling diameter in all directions, unlike omni or mecanum wheels which can’t roll over obstacles going sideways.
• Rolling surface is exposed on all sides (except for the supported end(s) of course).
• Rolling surface is not sensitive to wear, unlike caster wheels, ball casters and ball transfers.
• Functions properly when the supporting frame bends or flexes
• Permits a simpler height-adjustment mechanism than traditional caster wheels.
